India opening batsman, Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the ICC World T20 due to a shoulder injury. The tournament will start from the 30th of April, and India play their first game on the 1st of May.

The Mumbai Indians have begun this edition of the tournament rather well as they notched up two wins in as many games. In their first game, they scored a 200-plus total, and despite a blitzkrieg ton from Yusuf Pathan, emerged winners. The other game saw them crush Delhi after getting to a near 220, winning by 98 runs.

The Rajasthan Royals have been hit by a huge blow as their premier batsman, Graeme Smith will not play in the rest of the tournament due to a finger injury. Smith was injured in the previous game against the Delhi Daredevils and later it was diagnosed as a double fracture of the middle finger, and he will return back to South Africa.

The BCCI has included Ashish Nehra in the list of retainer contracts after he had been missing out of the list in the last four years. He had made a comeback to the Indian side after performing marvellously well in the Indian Premier League in both, 2008 and 2009, and then getting selected for the Indian side.

As Australia are packing their bags to leave for India for the seven ODI home series from October 25 to November 11, a lot of action is building up on the Indian front with coaches being sacked and team combinations being changed by the Board of Control for Cricket and the selection committee.

India’s campaign in the Champions Trophy received a terrible jolt as they were thrashed by the New Zealanders by a whopping margin of 103 runs in their only warm-up game before the tournament. They play Pakistan on the 26th of September in their first game.
