The Test series is fast approaching the mid-point of the series, and the Indians look to have been beaten in almost all the sessions of the games so far. The first Test match was far too easily won by Sri Lanka, despite 120 overs being lost due to rain, whereas the second Test match looks to be going only one way – away from India.
The forthcoming series between India and Sri Lanka will not see the use of Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) because the Indian cricket board had expressed their unwillingness to do so.
India play Sri Lanka in the three Test match series that starts from the 18th of July at Galle. Here are strengths and weaknesses for both the sides for that series:
India opening batsman, Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the ICC World T20 due to a shoulder injury. The tournament will start from the 30th of April, and India play their first game on the 1st of May.
This is a question that the selectors will be able to answer after they meet in the selection meeting today to decide on which are the players that take the flight to the West Indies for the ICC World T20.
The Delhi Daredevils have appointed a new bowling coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League in the form of Eric Simons. Simons was earlier the bowling consultant of the Indian cricket team during the series against South Africa. Simons will replace David Saker, who was earlier the bowing consultant for the Daredevils team, under the coaching of David Shippherd.
Virender Sehwag almost entered the record books when he fell seven runs short of scoring his third triple century in the history of test match cricket. No player has ever done this so far in test match cricket and Sehwag came within seven runs of doing that before the maestro Muthiah Muralitharan lulled him into playing a shot too early and giving him a return catch!
