The Delhi Daredevils have appointed a new bowling coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League in the form of Eric Simons. Simons was earlier the bowling consultant of the Indian cricket team during the series against South Africa. Simons will replace David Saker, who was earlier the bowing consultant for the Daredevils team, under the coaching of David Shippherd.
Virender Sehwag almost entered the record books when he fell seven runs short of scoring his third triple century in the history of test match cricket. No player has ever done this so far in test match cricket and Sehwag came within seven runs of doing that before the maestro Muthiah Muralitharan lulled him into playing a shot too early and giving him a return catch!
India will go into the fifth and the final day of the first test match against Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad, 144 runs behind and with eight wickets still standing. And with the pitch playing the manner in which it is, the prospects of a result look very remote.

The Indian selectors have sprung a surprise by recalling back S. Sreesanth in the 15 member squad that they announced for the first two test matches against Sri Lanka. Sreesanth had been out of the Indian team for some time now thanks to injury and his on-field temperament, and was even warned by the BCCI to mend his ways.
Both India and Australia have been hit by injuries and may go into the rest of the series with reduced personnel – in terms of their potential! There hasn’t been a single game in the series where the Australians have not lost a player, and for now, India has joined the fray as well, with two of their batsmen not sure of making it through in the series.
The Australian skipper Ricky Ponting refused to indulge in any mind-games on landing in Mumbai to participate in the 7 match ODI series. Instead he went on to say that a contest between the world’s no. 1 and no. 2 ODI teams promises to be a close contest and that it would be wrong to predict a winner. This was in line with comments made by Steve Waugh earlier when he was in India.
It might have been an inconsequential win for other teams but the Delhi Daredevils looked hungry for it. They needed this win to prove to themselves more than to anyone else that they still have mettle and have not lost everything. With some brave decisions, the team got down on the Feroz Shah Kotla ground to face South African Nashua Cape Cobras, the team to which they have already lost once, in the last match of the Super eight stage of the Champions League.
