The IPL mess that the BCCI finds itself in will take some time to settle one feels. And to add to the problems that the BCCI has, the Income Tax department has summoned the BCCI secretary, N Srinivasan, to hand over all the relevant documents related to the financial details of the IPL.
Geoff Marsh, Australia’s former batsman and coach, has been contracted to coach the IPL Pune side. The Sahara Pune Warriors, who are owned by the Sahara Group for a sum of $370 million will also have Dermot Reeve as his assistant coach.
The ICC have announced that the next two editions of the World T20 will be played in Asia in 2012 and 2014. The 2012 version of the tournament will be played in Sri Lanka, while Bangladesh will the 2014 edition. There have been three editions of the World T20 that have already been played including one in South Africa, followed by the England and West Indies.
Looking at the way Sri Lanka is playing in this tournament, it does look difficult for the Indians to win their fifth edition of the tournament and the first in the last 15 years. Currently, as things stand, the Indians look like they may compete, but beating Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka will need much more than that.
The newest franchise in the IPL, that from Kochi is said to have spoken to Steve Waugh to join them in the capability of a coach for the next season of the IPL. One of the co-owners of the Kochi franchise, Vivek Venugopal said that Waugh was only one of the many potential candidates that they were talking to and based on the discussions and the time that the candidate will have, the decision will be taken.
India play Pakistan in the fourth game of the Asia Cup and the fireworks are expected to fly out of the game. India goes into the game with a lot of confidence having beaten Bangladesh rather easily, whereas Pakistan know that this is a must-win scenario for them given that the side had lost to Sri Lanka in the first game of the tournament.
Sachin Tendulkar has said that while he wanted to have India playing in the final of the World Cup final next year, he has not yet thought about the tournament given that it is a good nine months away still.
