Sri Lanka has easily defeated India in the first of the two T20Is played in Nagpur. With this loss, the Indians could not make a winning start to their T20Is on this ground at Jamtha, where they had earlier won their first Test match and first ODI as well. The second game of the series will be played at Mohali on Saturday and the Indians will look to come back into the series with a resounding win before going into the ODIs.
Group A saw Pakistan play the first game of the tournament against West Indies on the Johannesburg pitch, a wicket that would have spelt doom for most batsmen. For some surprising reason, the second string West Indian side decided to bat first on a green looking Wanderers track, and were in big trouble earlier on. They had lost seven wickets for 47, and it looked like the game would finish up inside the first half of the match when a nice rearguard action by the West Indian side saw them get to 133.
