India took full toll of the injuries that the Australian squad seem to be suffering from and thrashed them by 99 runs in the second ODI of the seven match series at Nagpur. With this win, the series is now tied at one game apiece and the action will move to Delhi where the two sides will play their third game.

The Australian skipper Ricky Ponting refused to indulge in any mind-games on landing in Mumbai to participate in the 7 match ODI series. Instead he went on to say that a contest between the world’s no. 1 and no. 2 ODI teams promises to be a close contest and that it would be wrong to predict a winner. This was in line with comments made by Steve Waugh earlier when he was in India.

It is not less than a challenge for the No 1 One-day team, Australia to defeat the Indian team on Indian soil, believes skipper Ricky Ponting who arrived with his team in India on Tuesday. But before leaving from Down Under he told the Australian reporters that, “They (India) will be particularly hard to beat in India, they always are. They definitely play a lot better at home than they do when they travel.”

The Indian coach Gary Kirsten has exhorted the Indian cricket team players to have more sex in order to have a better mental preparation before cricket matches. This was a part of a circulated document amongst the players, something that got leaked to the media and has been doing rounds for some time, eliciting even a quiet little snigger amongst many of the players!
