The Test series is fast approaching the mid-point of the series, and the Indians look to have been beaten in almost all the sessions of the games so far. The first Test match was far too easily won by Sri Lanka, despite 120 overs being lost due to rain, whereas the second Test match looks to be going only one way – away from India.
India play Sri Lanka in the three Test match series that starts from the 18th of July at Galle. Here are strengths and weaknesses for both the sides for that series:
India has selected Yuvraj Singh in their 16 member squad to tour Sri Lanka for the three Test match series after giving him the axe for the Asia Cup that was played in the same country. What has surprised many of the critics is that without having had any practice during the one month, and without playing any competitive cricket, on what grounds was the dropped player selected in the side.
Sachin Tendulkar has said that while he wanted to have India playing in the final of the World Cup final next year, he has not yet thought about the tournament given that it is a good nine months away still.
The Test match side for India’s tour to Bangladesh has been announced. While there were no surprise axes, the selectors have added Sudeep Tyagi to the side after he had earlier been a part of the ODIs and T20Is only.
Good news for all the Indian fans! Team India has gone on the top of the test match rankings by beating the Sri Lankans rather easily in the third and the final test match at Mumbai. In the process they have also managed to win the series 2-0.
The BCCI has included Ashish Nehra in the list of retainer contracts after he had been missing out of the list in the last four years. He had made a comeback to the Indian side after performing marvellously well in the Indian Premier League in both, 2008 and 2009, and then getting selected for the Indian side.
