Most of the fans watching the game between Australia and Pakistan were shocked at the outcome of the game. The Pakistanis looked to be running away with the game at one stage, but a freakish innings from Michael Hussey took the Australian side home with one ball to spare, in what can be described as the best T20I innings so far. The coach of the Pakistan cricket team, Waqar Younis was equally stunned by the effort and said it in as many words; he was still shocked at his side’s loss to Australia.
Zimbabwe beat Australia in their first warm-up game that was played in the West Indies, also the venue for the ICC World T20. At one stage, it had looked like the Aussies would be easy victors despite chasing 174 for a win, but then, they lost their way to capitulate rather easily and lose the game.
25 players have been named by the Australian selectors for the contract for the next season, i.e. the 2010-11. There were a couple of surprises in the list as the selectors went on to drop the pair of Nathan Bracken and Stuart Clark, both of whom have not played for Australia for some time now.
The Australian side for the ICC World T20 to be played in West Indies has been announced. The selectors have surprised by including the likes of Michael Hussey and getting the previously injured Brett Lee back into the side.
The Australian team’s woes continue unabated as they have lost another player to an injury. Peter Siddle is the latest casualty in the list of players to have been hit by the injury as he suffered from a side strain. In turn, he will be flying back home and will be replaced by some other bowler, who has yet to be named by the selectors.
Both India and Australia have been hit by injuries and may go into the rest of the series with reduced personnel – in terms of their potential! There hasn’t been a single game in the series where the Australians have not lost a player, and for now, India has joined the fray as well, with two of their batsmen not sure of making it through in the series.
Even as the Australian side grapples with the issues related to conceding more than 100 runs in the last ten overs of the previous game against India at Nagpur, they have been dealt with a blow that they would have been expecting but hoping against. Brett Lee will continue to remain unfit and will miss the third game at one of his favourite venues in India, the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
