Strategic Time-out Rule Changed for IPL 2010

The IPL has decided that it will reduce the time allocated for the strategic time-out from the earlier 7.5 minutes which was a part of the second edition of the IPL. The IPL has decided that it will reduce the strategic time from 7.5 minutes to five minutes, and that too will be divided into two sessions of 2.5 minutes each.

The name Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar echoed not only in Gwalior’s Major Roop Singh Stadium but also throughout the country as he smashed a double century against South Africa in an ODI. Tendulkar became the first ever batsman in the history of cricket to score double century and it was befitting that it was Tendulkar who did it before anyone else!

The Indian Premier league has said that the two new franchises for the 2011 edition of the tournament will be announced before the start of this year’s IPL. Talking about the next edition, he said that there were 12 cities which in contention for winning the rights of the tournament and will be chosen by the end of the month.

Football Club May Buy IPL Team For Fourth Season

First it was the Marylebone Cricket Club that had showed interest in buying out a team in the IPL from the fourth season of the tournament. Now, if reports are to be believed, it could very well be a soccer playing club that could be interested in buying a franchise as well. Currently, there are eight teams playing the tournament, but it has already been announced that from the next season onwards, there will be an addition of two more teams, making it a sum total of ten.

Yuvraj Could Play For Middlesex in T20 Cup

The county of Middlesex is in talks with Yuvraj Singh to have him play for the county in the Twenty20 tournament this year. The county had earlier approached Sachin Tendulkar to feature in the tournament, but the problem with the amount of cricket meant that the maestro had politely refused to be a part of the tournament.

Australia To Miss IPL, 2010?

So the Australian cricketers may not play in the Indian Premier League after all. Retaliating to the number of Indians getting mugged in Australia, a right-wing political party in India, the Shiv Sena, has said that they will not allow Australian cricketers to play in the IPL in Maharashtra.

The Indian Premier League governing council has decided that there would be two extra teams for the 2011 edition of the IPL from the existing eight sides. However, what is more surprising is the fact that the base price for the bidding has been increased to $225 million. This is more than four times the base price that was set for the first edition of the IPL and more than twice the price of the costliest team in the previous IPL – the $100 plus for Mumbai Indians.
