The Delhi Daredevils have appointed a new bowling coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League in the form of Eric Simons. Simons was earlier the bowling consultant of the Indian cricket team during the series against South Africa. Simons will replace David Saker, who was earlier the bowing consultant for the Daredevils team, under the coaching of David Shippherd.
The Indian team for the first Test match against South Africa has been named and it has a couple of surprising names. For starters, Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh have been ruled out of the Test match due to their injury.
The Test match side for India’s tour to Bangladesh has been announced. While there were no surprise axes, the selectors have added Sudeep Tyagi to the side after he had earlier been a part of the ODIs and T20Is only.
In the end, it turned out to be an easier win than expected for the Indians. Chasing 240 in a series which has already seen a near-chase for a total of 400 plus and a successful one for 301, was never expected to be too difficult, but with the pitch at the Barbati Stadium holding up the way it was, it could have got tricky. As it turned out, India won by seven wickets and with more than seven overs to spare.
Sri Lanka has easily defeated India in the first of the two T20Is played in Nagpur. With this loss, the Indians could not make a winning start to their T20Is on this ground at Jamtha, where they had earlier won their first Test match and first ODI as well. The second game of the series will be played at Mohali on Saturday and the Indians will look to come back into the series with a resounding win before going into the ODIs.
Good news for all the Indian fans! Team India has gone on the top of the test match rankings by beating the Sri Lankans rather easily in the third and the final test match at Mumbai. In the process they have also managed to win the series 2-0.
Murali Vijay will replace Gautam Gambhir at the top of the Indian batting order. Gambhir has had to give the third test match to be played at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai a miss because of his sister’s wedding and this has meant that Vjay, who has played one test match in his career so far. Coincidentally, that test match had also come as a result of a forced absence of Gambhir, who had been banned for one match for barging into Shane Watson deliberately.
