Shahid Afridi has shocked the cricketing world by announcing his retirement from Test match cricket! The surprise stems from the fact that he was only into his first Test match as the captain of the side, and was playing only his first Test match since coming back after 2007 when he made this decision.

Pakistan cricket captain in all the three formats of the game, Shahid Afridi, has spoken to Mohammad Yousuf to get him to come out of retirement and play for the country again. Yousuf has retired from international cricket after the PCB banned him from playing cricket indefinitely and did not appeal against the ban.

The Governing Council meeting which had started at 10 am on Monday, ended after two hours at the BCCI office in Mumbai and Chirayu Amin was appointed as the new chairman of the interim Governing Council. This council will consist of the same number of members as earlier, except that the BCCI chief Shashank Manohar has suspended Lalit Modi.

The International Cricket Council has said that they will not allow a separate window for the Indian Premier league. This was despite many of the experts and former cricketers calling for a separate window as it would allow players to participate in both, the international and IPL cricket.

Gautam Gambhir has joined the list of injured players in the Indian Premier League when he did something nasty to his hamstring yesterday while chasing the ball. He missed out most part of yesterday’s game against the Mumbai Indians and will not play the next game for Delhi against the Chennai Super Kings either.

The Delhi Daredevils have appointed a new bowling coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League in the form of Eric Simons. Simons was earlier the bowling consultant of the Indian cricket team during the series against South Africa. Simons will replace David Saker, who was earlier the bowing consultant for the Daredevils team, under the coaching of David Shippherd.

Lalit Modi seems to have been upset by the tactics of the Federation of International Cricketers Association (FICA) and has said that the IPL will not recognise them despite their strong-arm tactics. He has also criticised Ricky Ponting and has said that Ponting’s behaviour was unwarranted as he tried to dissuade the cricketers from travelling to India during the IPL.
