The Test series is fast approaching the mid-point of the series, and the Indians look to have been beaten in almost all the sessions of the games so far. The first Test match was far too easily won by Sri Lanka, despite 120 overs being lost due to rain, whereas the second Test match looks to be going only one way – away from India.
India may have been outplayed by Sri Lanka in all the departments of the game, but MS Dhoni did not fall short of the excuses. He blamed the loss on to the lack of partnerships that the Indians came up with. Dhoni said that each time a partnership grew in the Indian batting, the Sri Lankan side were able to bowl that magical delivery to get the batsmen out.
Looking at the way Sri Lanka is playing in this tournament, it does look difficult for the Indians to win their fifth edition of the tournament and the first in the last 15 years. Currently, as things stand, the Indians look like they may compete, but beating Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka will need much more than that.
The Asia Cup will begin from the 15th of June and will see four teams fight it out for the ultimate glory. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play in the Asia Cup in a round-robin league with the top two sides fighting out the finals of the tournament.
The Rajasthan Royals have been hit by a huge blow as their premier batsman, Graeme Smith will not play in the rest of the tournament due to a finger injury. Smith was injured in the previous game against the Delhi Daredevils and later it was diagnosed as a double fracture of the middle finger, and he will return back to South Africa.
Virender Sehwag continued to aim barbs at his opposition during the press conference after India had beaten Bangladesh rather comfortably in the first Test match at Chittagong. He again said that the opposition was not good enough to pick up 20 wickets.
After a rollicking game at Mysore, the Mumbai side has retained the Ranji Trophy title by beating Karnataka. The margin of the victory was only six runs, and that shows how closely fought the encounter was, between two teams that played good cricket right from the first day of the game.
