Sharad Pawar took over the role of the ICC President on the 1st of July at Singapore. Pawar had been the President in waiting for a period of two years, which had seen David Morgan of UK being the President of the ICC. However, the initiation of Pawar to the role was not without controversies as there was a war brewing between the Afro-Asian and the Australia-New Zealand block which had the controversial topic of John Howard’s rejection as the core area of discussion.

The ICC have announced that the next two editions of the World T20 will be played in Asia in 2012 and 2014. The 2012 version of the tournament will be played in Sri Lanka, while Bangladesh will the 2014 edition. There have been three editions of the World T20 that have already been played including one in South Africa, followed by the England and West Indies.

Pakistan cricket captain in all the three formats of the game, Shahid Afridi, has spoken to Mohammad Yousuf to get him to come out of retirement and play for the country again. Yousuf has retired from international cricket after the PCB banned him from playing cricket indefinitely and did not appeal against the ban.

Current Australian T20I captain Michael Clarke, has said that he will need to bat like how he used to at the beginning of his international cricket career to be able to get back into his batting form in the T20s. Clarke has also said that he would love to continue as the captain of the Australian side and would not want to give up his place as Australia’s captain in the T20s.

India crashed out of the ICC World T20 and is still hurting over the three losses in the Super Eights. They have, now, lost six successive games in the Super Eights over two tournaments, and the only team of note that they beat in the tournaments is South Africa. So what must be done now to overcome the issues facing the Indian team in the T20I format?

Most of the fans watching the game between Australia and Pakistan were shocked at the outcome of the game. The Pakistanis looked to be running away with the game at one stage, but a freakish innings from Michael Hussey took the Australian side home with one ball to spare, in what can be described as the best T20I innings so far. The coach of the Pakistan cricket team, Waqar Younis was equally stunned by the effort and said it in as many words; he was still shocked at his side’s loss to Australia.

After the Indian cricketers, it was the turn of the South African cricketers to bear the brunt of the former South African cricketers, who slammed their performance in the ICC World T20. South Africa’s abysmal performance has meant that they failed to win another of the big ICC tournament.
