Sharad Pawar took over the role of the ICC President on the 1st of July at Singapore. Pawar had been the President in waiting for a period of two years, which had seen David Morgan of UK being the President of the ICC. However, the initiation of Pawar to the role was not without controversies as there was a war brewing between the Afro-Asian and the Australia-New Zealand block which had the controversial topic of John Howard’s rejection as the core area of discussion.

Board of Control for Cricket in India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is on its way to a collision course with the government of the country as it has refused to align with it for the controversial anti-doping clause of WADA. The BCCI has said that it will continue to press the WADA to drop the controversial clause and will not allow the apex body for anti-doping to test its players by knowing the whereabouts in advance.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has reached a resolution for their dispute with the ICC over the hosting of the World Cup in an out-of-court settlement with cricket’s apex body. Earlier the PCB had initiated legal proceedings against the ICC for not allowing the country to co-host the 2011 edition of the World Cup with India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh after the security situation in the country had deteriorated to the extent that the Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked in Lahore.

The apex body of cricket, the ICC has said that none of the Indian cricketers who hadn’t signed the contract for anti-doping with WADA within the 31st July deadline will be fined. The deadline for all those cricketers will be postponed till the BCCI had a turn to discuss the contentious ‘whereabouts’ clause with WADA.

Dale Willem Steyn

It has been revealed that Dale Steyn of South Africa had failed a drug test during this season’s Indian Premier League. Steyn played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in both, this season and the last one, and played only in three games, in a much improved showing by the Vijay Mallya-owned franchise.
