Pakistan, who had won the tournament last year by beating Sri Lanka in the final was without a captain after most of their captain-material players were eight banned for an year or more or were fined and hence not in reckoning. Afridi was one of them but the PCB chief, Ejaz Butt seems to have pardoned him for the lapses and appointed him the skipper.

Shahid Afridi is clearly not a happy man. After all, his side had won the ICC World T20 in England this year, and he had gone on to win the man of the match awards in the semi-finals and the final. Yet, he, along with the rest of his team-mates will miss the third edition of the Indian Premier League, because the players did not receive the visas for the same.

Younis Khan has done it again! Known for his penchant for resigning from the captaincy and retiring from cricket, only to take back his decision, he has decided to resign from the top post and take a temporary break from international cricket. The reason that he has given for the resignation from the captaincy is that he has been unable to unify his team and hence take control of it.
