Sachin Tendulkar Completes 30000 International Cricket Runs

Sachin Tendulkar has become the first ever batsman in the history of international cricket to complete 30000 runs in international cricket. This includes both, ODIs and Test matches. Only recently, Tendulkar had brought up his 17000 runs in the ODI format of the game, and then had gone on to complete twenty years in international cricket. Thus he caps a fine month of record-breaking performances by surpassing the 30k milestone. In the process of becoming the first ever player to complete the milestone, he also helped the side in going closer to securing a draw for his side.

Such has been Tendulkar’s dominance and obviously the longevity, in international cricket, that there is a gap of 6000 runs between him and the cricketer at the number two spot, Ricky Ponting. Ponting currently has 24057 runs, but with not more than 2-3 years left with him either, it seems highly unlikely that he would be able to get too close to this milestone. Ponting has scored 11345 in test matches and 12311 in ODIs so far.

At the number three position is another great of the game, Brian Lara, who has scored 22358 runs in the international cricket. This includes more than 11000 runs in tests matches and 10k odd runs in the fifty overs format.

India is well represented in the list, as Rahul Dravid makes it to the number four position with nearly 22000 runs. While he looks good for another year or so in test matches, the performance of the younger Indian players in the ODIs could mean that he does have a chance of making a comeback to the ODIs as well and thus, increase his chances of getting the runs higher than Lara. Close on his heels is Jacques Kallis, who is around 900 runs short of Dravid. Both, Kallis and Dravid have had a concurrent career with Kallis starting his in 1996 – one year after Dravid had begun his career.

The list then consists of Sanath Jayasuriya, Inzamam-ul-haq, and another Indian, Sourav Ganguly.
