My opinion:

a) Unwanted comment/remark
b) Shows how irresponsible he is…

Dean Jones should be sacked and should never commentated ever again because as a cricket commentator or a person who is very well know, he shouldn’t have made a racist remarked to Hashim Amla because of what he wear and his nationality by calling Hashim Amla a terrorist at Colombo when he was commentating the Sri Lanka and South Africa Cricket test match.
In a blistering attack, Senator Ray said Jones didn’t deserve to get behind a microphone again. “I regard Dean Jones as the worst cricket commentator that I have ever heard in 50 years of following cricket,” he told the Senate on Tuesday.
Dean Jones did not only offend Hashim Amla, he’d offended the Muslim and many people of the community. Who does Dean Jones thinks he is saying words like that in public? How can anybody think of doing this?

When Dean Jones said “the terrorist has got another wicket” The switchboards of both CSA and Super Sport, that takes a feed of the broadcast to South African audiences, have been jammed with calls from some very angry people. Even though Dean Jones had apologized by saying “I am truly sorry to have caused offence to anybody and the last thing I intended was to be disrespectful. What is apologizing going to do it not going to fix the problem? When Dean Jones made the racist comment, he had made a very bad example for young people and made many people mad. Didn’t he even think before he had said this comment?

All though dean Jones deserver the punishment, but I think the punishment is a bit cruel because other people have made worst racist comment like this as well

Alex,

Thanks for sharing your views.

It is sad but he should have kept out racism and personal insults out of sport. After all cricket is gentlemen’s game ;)
