IPL’s suspended chairman, Lalit Modi is at it again! First he had cried foul over the appointment of Shashank Manohar in the IPL disciplinary panel who will handle his case. Now, he has said that even Chirayu Amin should not be allowed to sit on the disciplinary committee.
Earlier, Manohar had agreed to removing himself from the panel, but now, it remains to be seen whether the President of BCCI agrees to this demand as well.
Amin had earlier been a part of the disciplinary committee from the very beginning. This was the case even before he was appointed the interim chairman of the IPL. Later, when Modi was suspended, Amin was appointed as the chairman of the IPL for the interim period.
Earlier, Modi’s replies to the BCCI to the three show cause notices were rejected by the BCCI and he was referred to the disciplinary committee. Modi then demanded that he be given the discussion minutes of that meeting in which the decision was taken.
Now, Modi’s lawyers have sent across a notice to the apex cricket body in India, saying that Amin should also be recused from the BCCI, given that there is a good chance that he may have issues with Modi.
The reason why Modi claims this could be the case is because it was the suspended chairman who had de a public disclosure on how Amin was also a part of the consortium that had bid and lost the Pune franchise.
The BCI has refuted these allegations in the past as well and said that Amin had not invested the money in the consortium. In fact, it has been said that Amn went on to say that he would have invested in the consortium through his company that manufactures Glycodin, had the consortium won the bid.
Manohar has also gone on to add that it was Modi who had first asked the Pune franchises to approach Amin.
Arun Jaitley and Jyotiraditya Scindia are the two other members in the disciplinary committee who will hear the Modi case.
