Salman Rushdie is a Mumbai born internationally renowned essayist and author of fiction, most of which is set on the Indian subcontinent. He first achieved fame with his second novel, Midnight’s Children (1981), which won the prestigious Booker Prize, and his ongoing literary output has continued to receive critical acclaim and commercial success.
