Most of you may be aware that – The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are the premier management / business schools of India, located in the cities of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Indore, Kolkata, Kozhikode, and Lucknow.

Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) was established in 1961 as an autonomous institution by the Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and the Indian Industry and is the second oldest IIM.

IIM-A was conceived not to be purely a business school, but a school of management. Its mission is to professionalise Indian management through teaching, research, training, institution building and consulting.

Now, IIM-A is all set to take new course modules. The idea is very simple students must learn from the sport on how to cope with pressure. :D Sports, especially cricket and football, are becoming too competitive and management students can learn from both disciplines. Once prepared, the modules will be a part of our one-year programme for executives.

IIM-A director Bakul H Dholakia said:

The unforeseen turnarounds, huge competition, excellent leadership and teamwork are an integral part of sports like cricket and football and we are developing the modules to imbibe the qualities collectively

I think in the case of non cricket related sports, students may find it challenging to devisong and testing marketing strategies too. Most non cricket related sports are languishing in India but as cricket relates sponsorship costs are beyind the reach of most brands, an alternative market must be developed.
