Current Australian T20I captain Michael Clarke, has said that he will need to bat like how he used to at the beginning of his international cricket career to be able to get back into his batting form in the T20s. Clarke has also said that he would love to continue as the captain of the Australian side and would not want to give up his place as Australia’s captain in the T20s.

25 players have been named by the Australian selectors for the contract for the next season, i.e. the 2010-11. There were a couple of surprises in the list as the selectors went on to drop the pair of Nathan Bracken and Stuart Clark, both of whom have not played for Australia for some time now.

Adam Gilchrist has jumped into the fray and voiced his opinion over the excess of cricket that is played these days. Talking to a newspaper, Gilly said that there was no doubt that the cricket has reached a point beyond which it would be very difficult to sustain it and the also expect quality of the same order as previously.

Aussie quickie, Brett Lee is said to be contemplating retiring from the five day format of the game to be able to concentrate on only the ODIs and the T20Is. Lee has been out of the Australian squad for some time now and has had issues with major injuries and has not been the first choice in the Test team despite being one of the fastest around.

The Australian Cricket Board has said that they have almost reached an agreement with the Indian counterparts for the side to tour the country more often than usual. In fact, it has been said that India could tour Australia in four of the six years in the next ‘Future Tours Programme’.

Ricky Ponting, Australia’s cricket captain, has announced his retirement from twenty overs format of cricket and has said that he will concentrate on only the other two formats of the game, the ODIs and the test matches. This comes in the wake of the consistently grinding schedule that the sides have to endure in the current day and age, and a growing trend of players choosing one or the other forma over the other. Current vice-captain Michael Clarke will take over the leadership of the T20I Aussie side, whereas Ponting would continue captaining in the test matches and the ODIs. An announcement to that regard will soon be made.

Finally, India beat Australia by nine runs in Brisbane to win the Commonwealth Bank Series by 2-0. Team India deserve this trophy. Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar showed his class again when required. With the help of seven fours in 91 as India made 258-9 after choosing to bat. Also, Praveen Kumar took 4 (46) wickets. [...]
